Every ceremony begins with a conversation.

If you’d like to talk about a ceremony, I’d love to hear from you.

FAQs

A few things you might be wondering...

What is an independent celebrant?

An independent celebrant creates and leads personal ceremonies that aren't tied to a particular religion or set format. It means I have the freedom to work with you to create something that feels completely right for you - whether that's traditional, modern, religious, non-religious or somewhere in between.

What's the difference between a celebrant and a registrar?

A registrar is responsible for the legal marriage and must follow certain legal requirements as part of the ceremony. An independent celebrant isn't restricted in the same way, which gives us much more freedom over the words, music, readings, location and structure of your celebration.

Many couples choose to complete the legal formalities separately and have their celebrant-led ceremony as the main celebration with family and friends.

Is a celebrant-led wedding legally binding?

Not currently in England and Wales. You'll need to complete the legal formalities separately with a registrar.

Once that's taken care of, your celebrant ceremony can be created entirely around the two of you, without being restricted by a set legal format.

Can we include our own vows, music, readings or traditions?

Absolutely. There are no set rules about what your celebration has to look or sound like. You might want to write your own vows, involve family and friends, include particular music or readings, or incorporate a tradition or symbolic element that means something to you.

I'll help you with ideas if you need them, but ultimately it should feel like yours.

Where are you based and how far will you travel?

I'm based in Surrey, but I'm very happy to travel further afield.

If your wedding or ceremony is further away, just get in touch and we can talk through the practicalities. Additional travel costs may apply depending on location.

How do we book you for a funeral?

You can contact me directly, or simply tell your funeral director that you'd like me to lead the ceremony and they can contact me on your behalf.

Either way, I'll liaise with your funeral director throughout so that everything is coordinated for you.

Can we include religious elements in a funeral?

Of course. An independent funeral doesn't have to be completely non-religious.

If a particular hymn, prayer, reading or tradition is important to you or to the person who has died, it can absolutely be included. Equally, the ceremony can be entirely non-religious. We'll create something that feels right for your family and true to the person you're remembering.

What do you charge?

Wedding ceremonies start from £800. This includes our meetings, writing your ceremony from scratch, any revisions, help with vows, readings and music, a rehearsal if required and possible, leading the celebration on the day, and a keepsake copy of your ceremony.

Funeral and celebration of life ceremonies are £300. Additional travel costs may apply depending on location.
